Stocks break out of trading range

October 24th, 2011

The U.S. stock market increased to the highest level in more than two months this past week. This is an encouraging sign that investors are not as pessimistic as they were in August and September after the U.S. debt downgrade. Investor sentiment has improved because recent economic data show the U.S. economy is not in recession and European policymakers appear to be more serious about containing their debt crisis.
