Derek Duncan - Brighton Securities Biographies

Derek joined Brighton Securities in 2008 from the accounting firm Freed Maxick & Battaglia.  With extensive tax, audit, and securities experience and tenure at CPA firms and Merrill Lynch, he is well-suited to his dual responsibilities as Controller & Director of Tax Services. In addition to his corporate experience, Derek's family has long been involved in small business, and he grew up with an appreciation for and an understanding of the challenges of small business. He offers our clients personal and business tax advisory services as well as assistance with accounting, internal controls, federal and state regulatory requirements, and cash flow management.  In other words: full service tax and accounting to complement Brighton Securities' full service investment counsel.

A native of Henderson, Kentucky, Derek graduated from the University of Memphis with a BBA in Accountancy. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and served as a past President of the Rochester Chapter of the New York State Society of CPA.  He also serves on the executive board of Catholic Charities Community Services as Treasurer.

Derek lives in Fairport with his wife and two young children, and plays a little golf when he can find the spare time.
